FREE YOUR DECEASED LOVED ONES AND OTHERS FROM PURGATORY

During the period from November 1 to November 8, Catholics can gain a Plenary Indulgence (full release) for the souls in Purgatory by devoutly visiting any cemetery (yes, any, even a non- Catholic one!) and praying for the departed soul or souls you wish to deliver into heaven.

This indulgence can be obtained every day during this period of days. You can do this for as many souls as you like but you must repeat the prayers for each soul. The indulgence can be applied to a loved one or to a soul who has no one else to pray for them.

To gain the plenary indulgence, the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • Be in a state of grace and have complete detachment from sin, including venial sin. If you are not in a state of grace, you must go to Sacramental Confession as soon as possible.

  • Even if you are in a State of Grace (which we hope you always are), you must receive the Sacrament of Confession, which can be done within 20 days before or after the cemetery visit.

  • Receive Holy Communion, ideally be on the same day as the visit but can be within several days before or after.

  • Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father, with one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be being the minimum recommended, though other prayers may be added.

This prayer is sufficient to grant all the grace necessary to immediately release the soul from Purgatory!

FIRST SATURDAY MASSES OF THE CONSECRATION TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

On each First Saturday of the month, Fr. Walden will celebrate Mass at 8:00 AM at Holy Martyrs Church.

This Mass is offered so the faithful can participate in the First Five Saturdays devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, as she requested at Fatima, encouraging Catholics to practice it at least once in their lifetime.

Confessions will be heard at 7:30 AM, and the Mass will be preceded by the recitation of the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.

LADIES ADVENT BY CANDLELIGHT

Save the date! Sunday, November 30, beginning at 5:00 PM

All women of the parish are invited to an evening of faith, fellowship, and reflection as we prepare our hearts for Advent.

If you wish to be a hostess for a table, please call the rectory to be added to the list. Hostesses are responsible for inviting guests for their table and providing paper goods, decorations, and other table items.

Each participant is asked to bring a dish to share for the meal. A guest speaker will also join us that evening.
