The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization for both men and women. Originally started by Frederic Ozanam in 1833 under the name "Conference of Charity", their focus was to assist the poor. Shortly after, they changed their name in honor of their patron but their mission remained the same. They offer person-to-person service to those suffering or in need.
Our local conference of Vincentians serves a great need in the Sullivan area. On a regular basis, they are providing rent money to those a bit behind, gasoline cards to help get someone to job interviews, and funds to pay the electric bill so lights will stay on. Vincentians do not discriminate for they see the face of CHrist in those they serve.
The 3rd weekend of every month, St. Anthony parishioners are asked to monetarily support this ministry by donating to the local conference. If you feel called to serve the poor and needy in a more hands-on-approach, please contact Tom McQuiggan.
