Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD has given and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
From all of us here at St. Anthony Parish, we are deeply sorry for your loss. The Funeral Rites of the Catholic Church has three main purposes: To offer prayers for the soul of the deceased; to grant comfort to you and all who are grieving; and to give fitting tribute to the departed soul.
Below you will find readings that are approved for the Funeral Liturgy. Choose one reading from each of the three below.
You will also need to choose four appropriate hymns for the funeral: one for entering the church, a second for setting up the altar (which is often Ave Maria), a third for Holy Communion, and a fourth for exiting the church. There are too many hymns to list here. You may discuss appropriate hymns when you meet with the priest or deacon a few days before the funeral.
To make funeral arrangements, call the parish office at (573) 468-6101.
St. Anthony Church does not charge any fee to its parishioners for the use of the church for Funerals or Memorial Masses. We feel this is God's work and a gift to the deceased and the deceased's family. However, for Visitation at the Church, which is an uncommon practice but one which we will accommodate, we charge a fee of $500. The rates for Solo Vocalist and Organist are $150 each.
